Repair Projects

House and Barn Repairs, north east Suffolk

In 2001 we carried out repairs to the queen posted barn at Low Farm, Laxfield.

In 2002 we returned and rebuilt most of the ground floor of the house frame, this had been removed and rebuilt in brick during the 19th century. Where any elements survived, we repaired and strengthened as required.

Evidence for the ground floor reinstatement came from the mortices to the underside of the girding rails along with other clues from the remaining sections.

On the first floor, many of the window openings had been enlarged, these were reinstated to their former proportions.
