Barham Green repairs

We replaced most of the sole plates to this 16th century frame as well as many repairs to the studs. Cement rendered brick infill had been put in the frame sometime during the 20th century and the surrounding timbers were beginning to show problems. Also I don't think we've ever seen quite as much silicone sealant used to patch up a building! This too was helping to trap in moisture and hasten decay. New infill panels still used soft red brick but laid in lime with a lime render over the top. Then a coat of limewash to help fill the many fissures in the timbers and shed water more efficiently.
