Repair Projects

Curson Lodge, Ipswich

Curson Lodge was built in the late 15th/early 16th Century although it has had many alterations and additions since then. In February 2013 a car crashed into the finely carved corner post that sits on the corner of St. Nicholas Street and Silent Street causing damage to some 20th century repairs as well as almost completely destroying the front entrance doors. Our task was to write a method statement for submission to Ipswich Borough Council and English Heritage so that we could swiftly get the building back together again and make it safe for passing pedestrians and traffic in this busy part of the town. Once given the go ahead we were able to reinstate the repaired post, re-fit the front doors (which had been completely rebuilt by a fantastic local joiner), rebuild the plinth and then make good with limewash.
