Black Barn Close, Somersham

Historically inspired but modern in style this simple frame has a wonderful set of sling braces to the master bedroom. We raised this in February 2006 for newly weds James and Lucy, you can see the whole project on their website at http://www.flickr.com/photos/22blackbarnclose

As you can see the roof was assembled on the ground and craned into position whole; not only is it a safer way to raise a roof but it's a big adrenalin rush to see several tons of framing hanging in the air before the satisfying thump of it fitting into position first time!
