Complex new house in Essex

This mammoth frame took us nearly five months to fabricate and erect. It has sling braces, arch braces, jetties, four open valleys and five dormers all with open valleys too! Designed by Dan O'Neil at Green Oak Architectural it gave us four Suffolk carpenters much to think about but was nevertheless fun to do.

The arch braced trusses in the sitting room are one of the most technically demanding types of truss for a framer to cut and racked up the man hours considerably but the end result would seem to justify the effort.

Now the project has been completed, what we considered one of the most complex but rewarding frames we have done has become an open, welcoming and unique home full of natural colour.
