The Sailors’ path; Snape to Aldeburgh

This curious project came to us in 2012 via Suffolk County Council’s rights of way team. The Sailors’ path is a footpath that uses an ancient route once trod by sailors between Snape and Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. Both are wonderful places to visit and are rightly popular with tourists so the County Council were keen to ensure that their signage and seating along the much-loved path was of a high quality. We were tasked with producing bollards and finger posts as well as benches from locally sourced timbers. All would be labelled with the distinctive logo of a commercial barge as was used on the local coast and rivers to ferry goods between the towns and villages of the East Anglian coastline.
